  1. Stovetop:

Bring 3 cups water and 1/2 teaspoon salt to a boil. Add 1 cup cereal and turn heat to low. Cover and cook for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Makes enough for four hungry folks. Serve with honey (or brown sugar) and milk.

    Single Serving Instructions:

Bring 3/4 cup water to a boil (with a pinch of salt, if desired). Add 1/4 cup cereal, reduce heat to low, cover and let cook to desired consistency, 5 - 7 minutes. Makes about 1/2 cup serving.

    Microwave Instructions:

In a large bowl, combine 1/4 cup cereal and 3/4 cup water (add a pinch of salt, if desired). Microwave on high for 3 to 5 minutes. Let stand for 2 minutes. Makes one serving (1/2 cup).

Can I make the 8-grain cereal in my slow cooker? As I like to make my oatmeal in my slow cooker, so just curious if anyone has tried a slow cooker method?

      Hi Ellisa,
We haven’t tried making this cereal in a slow cooker; we recommend making it according to the directions on the package. The grains may absorb the liquid very quickly in a slow cooker which may cause issues with the taste and texture of the cereal.
