Bob's Stone Cracked Wheat Stuffing

This recipe can be made with or without a turkey. It will adequately fill all the empty corners of the inside of a 12 lb. bird. This recipe can be doubled for a larger bird.

  • 1 cup chopped WALNUTS BAKERS PIECES
  • 1/4 cup Vegetable Oil
  • 1/2 cup Chopped Celery
  • 3/4 cup Chopped Onion
  • 1/2 cup Chopped Carrots
  • 3 cups uncooked Cracked Wheat
  • 1-3/4 tsp Sea Salt
  • 1 tsp dried Parsley Flakes
  • 1/2 tsp rubbed Sage
  • 1-3/4 tsp Poultry Seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp dried Basil (Imported)
  • 1/4 tsp fresh ground black Pepper
  • 5 cups Water
  • 1/2 cup Butter

Directions

In a heavy 3 qt. pan with lid, melt butter and add oil. Add celery, onions, carrots; saute 10 minutes then add cracked wheat and herbs. Stir and lightly brown, about 5 minutes. Add water and bring to a boil; cover and simmer gently for about 25 minutes.

Makes 18 servings.
