Hamburger Casserole

  • 1/4 tsp Oregano, Mediterranean
  • 1 tsp Sea Salt
  • 1 can Tomato Soup (8oz can)
  • 2 cups Water (boiling hot)
  • 3/4 cup Cracked Wheat uncooked
  • 1/4 cup Celery finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup Green Bell Pepper finely chopped
  • 1 Onion small-sized, finely chopped
  • 1 lb Extra Lean Ground Beef


Preheat oven to 325°F. Lightly grease a baking dish, set aside.

In a nonstick skillet, over medium-high heat, lightly brown the first 3 ingredients (ground beef through green pepper); add the celery and cracked wheat cereal; add boiling water, tomato soup, salt and Bob's Red Mill oregano. Mix well; cover and remove from heat to rest for 5 minutes.

Pour into prepared baking dish and bake for 1 hour and 25 minutes.

*May use other cream soup flavors as desired.

Pizza Casserole- use 1 can pizza sauce in place of tomato soup. Sprinkle with 1/2 cup grated Italian cheese the last 15 minutes of balking time.
Vegetable Beef Casserole- add 1 can drained green beans or 1 can drained corn.

Makes 6 servings.

I made this last night, using pasta sauce and adding cheese at the end. I had to rush it a little, so I cooked the dish at 380 F for 50 minutes and put the cheese on 5-10 minutes before it finished. It turned out yummy! It's tastes very much like the filling for stuffed bell peppers.
