Barley Brownies

A light brownie that everyone will enjoy. This is a wheat-free recipe but does contain gluten. Whole Grain! Soy Free.

Directions

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350°F. Lightly oil an 8" x 8" x 2" baking pan and set aside.

Step 2

In a medium bowl, mix together carob powder, brown sugar, vegetable oil, vanilla and eggs.

Step 3

In another bowl blend together the barley flour, baking powder and salt. Gradually add flour mixture to carob mixture; stir well. Gradually add chopped nuts; incorporate well.

Step 4

Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for 30-35 minutes (do not overbake).

Makes 16 brownies.

Have you tried this recipe? Really? Batter was dry like pie crust
"pea-size corn meally" before adding the liquid! I added 2/3 cups milk and it was still very dry like thick frosting. Don't know if it's going work, but the consistency was much better with the milk
