Mixed Rolled Grains Cocoa Cake

Contributed by: Bob's Red Mill Natural Foods

This cake has three different grains in it along with that chocolate taste that is so satisfying when you just "gotta" have chocolate!

Directions

Preheat oven to 350°. Lightly grease a 9" square baking pan, set aside. Combine the flour, sugar and salt in a large bowl. Cut butter into flour mixture with a pastry blender or two knives until mixture is crumbly. Stir in the oats, wheat and triticale. Remove 1/4 cup of the mixture.

Stir in the cocoa, baking powder and baking soda into the remaining mixture in the bowl. Combine milk and vanilla in a small bowl; then stir into the flour mixture until well blended. Turn the mixture into the prepared pan. Sprinkle the reserved 1/4 cup of crumbs over top. Bake for 35-40 minutes or until crumbs are golden brown and center is firm when gently pressed. Cool for 20 minutes in the pan on a wire rack. Cut into 9 pieces and serve warm. Makes 12 servings.
