Steel Cut Oats Microwave Instructions

The Steel Cut Oats is difficult to cook in the microwave since it is a large kernel of the whole grain. Since every microwave is slightly different, our method may not work for you.

Combine the oats and water in a large bowl and microwave for 2 minutes, watching for any signs of boil over. Stir the oats and microwave for another 30 seconds. Repeat this about 3-4 times. Take out of microwave, cover and let stand 2 minutes.

yeah, these really can't be made in the microwave, which is understandable because they're such a large-kernel, quality oat
just do it on stovetop, is not that much work

Worked great for me, thanks. Used "Bob's Organic Quick Cooking" oats.

This recipe works great for me every time. I use regular steel cut oats and follow the directions exactly, being very careful to turn off the microwave right before boil over.

Routinely microwave steel cut oats-several times a week. Add boiling water to one quart Pyrex measuring cup. Stir in oats and salt. Place in microwave. Cook 10 minutes on power level 4, stirring occasionally. Power level, depending on microwave, may vary from 3 - 5.
