During the early Bronze Age, Mesopotamian farmers began cultivating fava beans, and their fame quickly spread. It wasn't long before fava beans were being enjoyed all across the globe. Fava beans have a buttery texture and a lovely, nutty flavor. Similar to lima beans in taste and texture, they are one of the most flavorful and meaty beans around. They are also a good source of fiber, protein and iron. Bob's Red Mill Fava Beans have been naturally blanched to remove the unsavory skins.
