Congratulations go to Margreta for her comments on how she went a little more green this year. She was selected randomly from all of your wonderful comments and won Ivy Manning’s Farm to Table Cookbook.
I don’t know about you, but this has been a hectic month so far. I spent the last five days working in Bend at the USGP of Cyclocross (recap tomorrow) and have been playing catch-up since. I love getting away and serving up hot oatmeal to cold bikers, but the mound of work waiting upon my return is enough to make me never want to leave the office again… but, rest assured, just because we’re busy, doesn’t mean we aren’t giving away more goodies.
I’m going to give away two cookbooks this week. Both of these books are great companions to have in the kitchen, as they are filled with myriad delicious recipes using whole grains. Either of these books would make a great gift for the baker or cook in your life, or horde it all to yourself (we won’t tell).
Whole Grains: Every Day, Every Way by Lorna Sass is an essential guide to cooking whole grains. Lorna gives tips and tricks to cook up whole grains perfectly, every time. Her recipes range from simple to gourmet and each yields a delicious result. Some of our favorites include Savory Barley Muffins with Thyme and Romano, Amaranth Polenta with Wild Mushrooms, and Thai Chicken Soup with Chinese Black Rice.
Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day by Jeff Hertzberg and Zoë François is a new take on the tradition of bread baking. Who says you have to spend three hours crafting that perfect loaf? This book shows you how to make a beautiful loaf in just five minutes. The secret? You’ll just have to read the book. The recipes run the full gamut from traditional sandwich loaves to pizzas, baguettes and buttery pastries.
HOW TO ENTER:
Leave a comment below and tell me which book you’d prefer and why. I’ll randomly pick a winner for each book. Winners will be chosen from all those who enter by midnight on Thursday, December 17th.
